Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev once again delivered an unforgettable clash, with a trilogy bout now appearing inevitable.
In their highly anticipated 2024 rematch for the undisputed light heavyweight championship, Bivol avenged his previous defeat with a sensational late-round performance, securing a majority decision victory over the previously unbeaten Beterbiev (114-114, 115-113, 116-112). The first half of the contest was closely contested, but Bivol seized control in the latter rounds, reversing the narrative from their initial encounter.
While Beterbiev had dominated the closing stages of their first fight, this time, it was Bivol who appeared stronger and more dynamic as the bout progressed. The decisive factor was his superior punch output in the championship rounds, ultimately sealing his triumph.
After 24 rounds of elite-level boxing, the stage is now set for an electrifying rubber match.
“I didn’t want the second fight, it wasn’t my choice, but no problem. We can do a third fight if we need to,” said Beterbiev, who suffered the first defeat of his professional career after 22 bouts.
